Every idea is worth remembering
A thought you don’t write down is usually gone by the evening. Three Pages Daily exists to catch them — the memories, the ideas, the things that struck you in passing — which is why it asks you for nothing before you start.
A note from the founder
Writing is a way of thinking
I’m Wendy Zhang, the founder of Three Pages Daily. I built this journal because I believe that writing something down is a way to think. A page gives a half-formed idea somewhere to become clearer. You can slow down, look at what you mean, and decide what deserves your attention.
I’m interested in the connections between writing, attention, cognitive science and neuroscience. I believe that making time to write can help us clear our minds and practise focusing. That belief shapes the product: a quiet place to work through a thought, without pressure to turn it into polished prose.
In the age of AI, it is easy to let a tool write the first sentence, make the argument and arrive at the conclusion. My concern is that when we hand over every part of that process, we give ourselves fewer chances to practise independent thinking. I want to keep a space where we do that work ourselves.
Three Pages Daily has no AI writing feature. You write your own words and record your own ideas. An unfinished sentence, a question or a few lines about your day all belong here. The thinking happens as you put them on the page.
Sometimes an idea makes more sense as a sketch. The drawing canvas gives you room to describe it with a shape, a diagram or a few handwritten marks. Words and sketches are both ways to explore what you think.
The product story
Where this product came from
Most of what we lose isn’t forgotten dramatically. A line someone said, the reason you decided something, an idea on the walk home — they go quietly, because writing them down was a small amount of work at the wrong moment.
So the whole product is built around lowering that moment’s cost. Every day you get three open pages, already dated. A memory, a plan, a photo from lunch, a recording because talking is faster than typing, a sketch when words are the slow way round — all of it goes on the same sheet, and none of it needs a decision first.
That’s where the simplicity comes from. There are no folders to build, no templates to choose, no tags to maintain and no settings to get right before the first sentence — not because plain is a style we like, but because every one of those is a reason to not write the thing down. The date does the organising.
The other half is getting it back. A note you can’t find again was only ever half kept, so search reaches your writing, your voice transcripts, the words inside photos you added, and your attachments. Years later, the thing you half-remember is still findable.
What we believe
Catch it in seconds
No notebook to pick, no template to choose, no title to invent. Today's date is already at the top and the cursor is already in it.
One journal, not a filing system
Everything belongs to a date. Topics let you follow a thread across days, but you add them when they help — never to file something away.
Written to your device first
On iPhone, iPad and Mac your journal is stored on the device and needs no account. In a browser, every keystroke hits a local draft before the cloud.
Space for your own thinking
There is no AI writing feature. Put a thought into your own words, or sketch it when a line, shape or diagram expresses it better.
Privacy as a fact, not a promise
No ads, nothing sold, and nothing you write used to train a model. The app version keeps everything on hardware you own and locks with a passcode, Face ID or Touch ID.
Gentle, not gamified
A streak and a word count, and that's the end of it. No goals to miss, no reminders, and nothing that treats a skipped day as a failure.
What we won’t do
We will never show ads.
We will never sell or share your writing, your transcripts, or anything read out of your images.
We will never train AI models on your journal content.
We will always let you export everything, in Markdown or PDF, on every plan including the free one.
We will be honest about what the free plan includes and what it doesn't.
If we ever shut down, we will give plenty of notice and working export tools.
