Terms of Service

By installing one of our apps, creating an account, or otherwise using 3 pages daily ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or an in-app notice. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of it.

3 pages daily exists in two forms, and parts of these terms apply to only one of them.

Our downloadable apps keep everything on your device. They require no account, collect no data and send nothing to us. Sections covering accounts, subscriptions and hosted storage do not apply when you use an app on its own — but sections 5, 6, 7 and 9 through 13 still do.

The web version requires an account and stores your journal on our infrastructure so it is available on any machine you sign in from. All of these terms apply to it.

Data written in an app stays in that app unless you deliberately move it to the web version. The two do not synchronise on their own.

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. You are responsible for the security of your account and for activity that takes place under it.

Do not share your credentials. If you believe your account has been compromised, tell us immediately at hi@3pagesdaily.com.

3 pages daily offers a free plan and a paid plan ("Premium"), billed monthly or annually and processed by Stripe. By subscribing you authorise recurring charges to your payment method until you cancel.

You may cancel at any time from Settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period you have already paid for, so access continues until then. We do not provide refunds for partial subscription periods.

Returning to the free plan does not delete anything. You keep full read, search and export access to everything you have already written.

You retain complete ownership of everything you create in the Service — entries, drawings, voice recordings and anything you upload. Copyright and all other rights in that content remain yours. We claim no rights in it, and nothing in these terms transfers any ownership to us.

For the web version, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, revocable licence to store, transmit and display your content back to you, solely so that the Service can operate. It grants us no right to publish, distribute, sublicense or commercialise your content, it cannot be transferred to anyone else, and it ends when you delete the content or close your account.

The apps involve no licence at all, because your content never reaches us.

These commitments are binding on us and apply to every version of the Service:

• We will not use your content to train, fine-tune or evaluate any artificial intelligence or machine-learning model, and we will not provide it to any third party for that purpose.
• We will not display advertising in the Service, and we will not share your content or personal information with advertisers, data brokers or ad networks.
• We will not sell, rent or trade your content or personal information.
• We will not read your journal except where you explicitly ask us to in order to resolve a support issue, or where the law compels us.

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Store or share illegal content, or content that infringes someone else's rights
• Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the Service
• Attempt to reach another user's account or data
• Store or distribute malware
• Work around storage or usage limits by automated means

The Service itself — its design, code and trademarks — belongs to 3 pages daily and is protected by intellectual property law. You may not copy, modify, distribute or build derivative works from it without our written permission. This says nothing about your content, which is covered by section 5 and remains yours.

We aim for high availability but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access to the web version. Maintenance, upgrades and emergency fixes may affect it temporarily, and we will give advance notice of planned downtime where we can. The apps run on your device and do not depend on our servers.

Deleting an entry in the web version is immediate and permanent. There is no trash and no recovery step, so export anything you want to keep before you delete it. If you close your account, we permanently delete the associated data within 30 days. You can export everything at any time, before or instead of deleting.

In the apps, your data lives on your device and under your control. Deleting the app removes the data with it, so export anything you want to keep first.

The Service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that it will be error-free or that it will produce any particular result.

3 pages daily is a journaling tool. It is not medical advice, mental health treatment or therapy. If you are in a mental health crisis, contact a qualified professional or your local emergency services.

To the maximum extent the law allows, 3 pages daily is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages. Our total liability for any claim arising from the Service will not exceed what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

You may stop using the Service and close your account whenever you like. We may suspend or terminate an account that materially breaches these terms.

If we discontinue the Service entirely, we will give at least 60 days' notice and provide tools to export your data.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of San Francisco County, California.
